Survey Question # 20

Rationale:

Currently we have approximately 14 Action Team RNs working Day shifts and 14 Action Team RNs working Night shifts. We also have total 14 days per pay period scheduled as ATRN days for each, Day and Night Shifts.

So, it appears that to be fair, at least for now, these scheduled ATRN days should be equally divided among our current Action Team members. This way, each of our current Action Team RNs will have a dedicated scheduled ATRN day each pay period.

However, currently, some of our Action Team RNs have 2 or 3 scheduled ATRN days, while others have none. Because this situation seems to be unfair to many of our current Action Team nurses, the Union has decided to determine if our current Action Team RNs who have 2 or more of scheduled ATRN days are willing to give some of their scheduled days to nurses who have none of scheduled ATRN days. As a result, the Union has decided to add the following question to the Survey:

If you are a Member of our Action Team and have 2 (two) or more scheduled ATRN days, are you willing to give up at least one of your scheduled days to other member(s) of our current Action Team who have no scheduled ATRN days?

Result: 1 (one) Member of our current ATRNs who has more than 2 scheduled days, and 1 (one) of our current ATRNs who has only 1 scheduled day have indicated that they are willing to give up at least 1 of their scheduled ATRN days to be fair to other ATRNs who have no scheduled ATRN days. 1 (one) of our current ATRNs responded “prefer not to answer”, 5 of our current ATRNs have responded that they only have 1 scheduled ATRN day, 9 (nine) of our current ATRNs have indicated that they don’t have any scheduled ATRN days, and 1 (one) of our current ATRNs have responded: “I am only break relief ATRN and i do not have scheduled days”.

The Rationales provided in response to this survey question clearly support the proposition that every ATRN should have equal opportunity to actually perform in Action Team role.
