Survey Question # 5

Rationale:

The opponents of Fair distribution of Break Relief assignments among all willing nurses have suggested that many of our ICU nurses don’t want and/or refuse to perform in a role of Break Relief RN. The Union has decided to test the validity of such argument by asking the following Survey question:

Approximately 82% of survey respondents have stated that they are willing to perform in a role of Break Relief RN. Only about 18% of the survey responders are opted out of performing Break Relief duties.

Statistical Analysis: The survey results demonstrate that between 77.41% and 86.55% of ICU nurses are willing to perform in a Break Relief Role based on rotation schedule for this assignment. These findings were calculated by using a scientific formula at high precision 99% confidence level, with a margin of error of 4.57% and a p-score of 0.8198. The high confidence level and narrow margin of error reinforce the reliability of these results, indicating strong evidence that the vast majority of ICU nurses are willing to occasionally perform in a Break Relief RN role based on a rotation schedule for that assignment.

Conclusion: The high confidence level and narrow margin of error reinforce the reliability of these results, indicating strong evidence that the vast majority of ICU nurses are willing to occasionally perform in a Break Relief RN role based on a rotation schedule for that assignment.
